Transit Oriented Development

Created a model for TOD in Portland

GB’s innovative work on TOD has served as a national model for how to link transit and land use to create livable communities. GB created and led the multi-jurisdictional TOD planning for Portland’s first two Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines – the east side and west side lines. Those station area plans have guided billions of dollars in TOD development around the stations. GB also created the TOD implementation programs for Portland’s transit agency, TriMet and Portland Metro, the regional government. TriMet estimates that $13.6 billion worth of development has occurred around its light rail stations.
